Portals complete

(now to fill them with windows and a door).

I spent a fair amount of time this weekend finishing up the framing for the door and windows. The windows are due to be delivered tomorrow morning, first thing. With the use of a little old-fashioned pulley action, I managed to install the door frame without assistance.

Lots of little tasks still to do before the next step, installing the building wrap.

  1. Hi there,
Found your blog as I was researching plans for my tiny house. I was originally been planning a traditional roof, but i like the look of yours. I was curious to see what the height of your loft was going to be and if you have plans for a full loft or just 1/2 loft.

thanks! and it looks good so far!

  2. Oh dear, I have been totally remiss in responding to my comments! I apologize, I thought for sure that I would receive an email or something. Anyway, hope you are still interested in an answer...

My loft is going to cover half of the length and all of the width of the space. It will be pretty short, less than 4' at the highest end, and the roof will slope downwards toward the opening of the loft at the middle of the space. It has been quite a struggle to determine how best to maximize the space, as I am limited by overall height of 13.5', and the height of the trailer cuts into that a bit. I have found a source for aircraft grade honeycomb aluminum panels, which will add a couple of inches of space that a wooden support platform would have required.

Thanks, and sorry again for the delay...
